  • It is not recommended for people with problematic kidneys.
  • Patients are taking medication that inhibits potassium excretion from the body. It is better to avoid pineapple tea, as too much potassium in the body can be fatal.
  • People are taking blood thinners. Avoid it before surgery.
  • Due to their natural sugar content, they are not recommended for people with diabetes.
  • People allergic to latex and birch pollen should take pineapple tea with caution. An allergy may occur.
  • Excessive amounts of tea may cause heartburn.

Pineapple Tea: How to Prepare It? 

Preparing a cup of this delicious tea is easy. It does not take much time and can be prepared with almost no additional ingredients. In addition, you can still eat the juicy flesh of the pineapple. 

Ingredients: 

  • 1 pineapple peel; 
  • ½ cup crushed pineapple pulp; 
  • 4 cups of water. 

Preparation: 

Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Then add pineapple peel and pulp. Boil the pineapple in the water and cook for about 15 minutes. Leave it to cool and drain. 

Use: it can be drunk hot or cold. You can also prepare it with a teaspoon of honey. 

Pineapple tea

Traditional Jamaican Pineapple Tea 

As mentioned above, this is one of the traditional drinks in Jamaica. The recipe has been slightly modified with a few extra ingredients for flavor and aroma. You can enjoy the tea can both hot and cold. It is ideal for chilling with ice cream and refreshing on a hot summer day. 

 Ingredients: 

  • 1 pineapple core and rind; 
  • 1 tuber of ginger (peeled and washed); 
  • ¼ tsp of turmeric; 
  • 1 cinnamon stick; 
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup; 
  • 3–4 glasses of water. 

Preparation: 

  1. Wash the pineapple peel thoroughly or soak it in water and vinegar for 30 minutes before cooking. 
  2. Mix all the ingredients except the maple syrup in a saucepan and boil for 30–60 minutes. Drain. 
  3. Add the maple syrup and taste. 

Pineapple Peel Tea for Immunity Boost 

This tea has a prophylactic effect to help ward off illnesses and boost immunity. Its anti-inflammatory benefits are suitable for colds. 

 Ingredients: 

  • 1 pineapple peel; 
  • 1 medium-sized ginger root (peeled, washed, and crushed); 
  • ½ tsp of turmeric; 
  • 1 tsp. of cloves
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice; 
  • 1 liter of water. 

Preparation: 

  1. Wash or soak the pineapple skin thoroughly. 
  2. Put all the ingredients (except the lemon juice) in a saucepan, stir, and cook for 10–15 minutes. 
  3. Allow it to cool, drain, and add the lemon juice.

Refreshing Pineapple and Hibiscus Tea 

This tea has a sweet and light taste. It combines the health benefits of pineapple skin tea and hibiscus. You can drink this tea as a hot or cold beverage. It is excellent for boosting immunity. 

Ingredients: 

  • 1 pineapple core and peel (well washed); 
  • ¼ cup of dried hibiscus flowers; 
  • 5 cloves; 
  • ¼ cup of brown sugar; 
  • 1 small ginger root (peeled, washed, and crushed); 
  • 1 cinnamon stick; 
  • 5 cups of water. 

Preparation:  

Add all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Allow it to boil for 45–60 minutes. Leave the drink to cool, after that drain it.
